Students from a wide range of universities often get in touch to ask whether or not we offer a special student rate. Quite understandably, with the level of income students have and the rather large issue of affordability for them, it is inevitable that students expect a lower rate than the standard rate charged by transcription companies and business generally.
Unfortunately when it comes to transcription our prices are not set at a level where we are able to offer a discount to students and maintain a sufficient level of profit to resource the company. We offer some of the lowest prices in the UK for English to English transcription using native English speakers.
Costs of the Service
If you think about it, the cost of transcription is exactly the same whether or not you are a student or a multi-national million pound turnover company requiring the same service.
You will still upload your file using our SSL secure server, your recordings will still get processed via our UK GDPR compliant service, and we will still need to pay our associate transcribers to complete the work at the same rate regardless of your status.
So the various costs involved in producing transcriptions of audio recordings do not change for us, and our profit levels are set at a margin where our shareholders can take a small amount out of the business, we have enough to maintain our commitment to donate 10% of our net profits to charity every year, our associate transcribers can get paid a reasonable level of remuneration and we can afford to stay in business and provide the transcription service.
We’ve all been there!
Most of our associate transcribers and our management team have been to university, and we have all been students. We understand the need for services to be affordable to students, because the level of income students have is so much lower than the general population. However, when it comes to transcription work, because the margins are small and the overheads are static, it is very difficult for us to offer students a general discount on our fees.
So what discounts do you offer?
University Transcriptions offer discounts on bulk orders which are usually more than 50 hours in total. These discounted levels are small, but they reflect our willingness to reduce the price if there is a substantial volume of work to go with it.
Do you provide Discount Voucher Codes?
You may very occasionally see a discount voucher code for University Transcriptions and TP Transcription Limited, but these are quite rare..
