Why universities use us
Human transcription
Recordings are transcribed by people who can follow context, speakers, accents and specialist terminology. We do not use AI for our transcription services.
Research confidentiality
We regularly handle interviews and focus groups containing personal, sensitive or confidential information, with documented access, transfer, retention and deletion controls.
Project-specific output
Templates, speaker labels, timestamps, anonymisation conventions, verbatim style and terminology can be agreed before work begins.
Security and data handling
- Secure file-transfer arrangements are available for project audio, video and completed transcripts.
- Access is limited to personnel allocated to the work and subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Project instructions can specify anonymisation, naming conventions, templates and deletion requirements.
- Our documented information-security controls are managed through an audited UKAS-accredited ISO 27001:2022 system.
- Data-processing and confidentiality documentation can be supplied for procurement and project review.
Quality assurance
Transcribers are selected through a challenging entry test and are subject to continuing quality monitoring. Transcripts may be proofread or quality checked in line with the agreed service. Feedback is recorded and used to improve project instructions, house style and future allocation.
Where a word or phrase cannot be established from the recording, uncertainty is marked rather than guessed. This preserves the evidential and research value of the transcript.
